Alecia Barry Underhill is a professional artist specializing in equine subject matter. She is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design.
"I paint horses for their beauty, the connection we human beings have to them, and the sense of history and nostalgia for simpler times. I like to paint close-up views that arrest the viewer and perhaps make you see something that you wouldn't ordinarily notice. I am not interested in painting perfect, idealized horses. The imperfections and variations that make each horse unique are what interest me."
She has produced the poster, Horses from A to Z and now has added Alphadogs. She spent her teenage years working with horses at a riding stable and Morgan farm in Connecticut, and was proud owner of three Morgan mares, now deceased. She and her husband Michael reside on a small farm in Connecticut, now home to sheep and goats, their intrepid English Shepherd, Eliot, and cats-Bonnie & Clyde.
